Description

Typescript containing Krzysztof Kieślowski’s text “Technical and organisational explanation for the production of 16 mm films copied to 35 mm”. The author justifies the choice of 16 mm stock by the desire to “get closer to life” and to record real, including unforeseen, situations. He describes in detail the camera and sound equipment and the need for a high shooting ratio. He indicates the recommended size of the crew (director, cinematographer, sound recordist, lighting technician) and calls for limiting the presence of production staff on set. He discusses production organisation: “runaway” shooting, result-based budgeting, and the specifics of documentary work. He also proposes that films be approved for production on the basis of a subject outline or a sketch of a script, with the final texts to be created only after shooting.
