Typescript containing Krzysztof Kieślowski’s draft script “Payment”. The document takes the form of a sequence of numbered sections describing the payday of a group of young factory workers. It opens with shots of hard labour at a power hammer, followed by scenes in the pay office, checking the money received, settling debts, and making plans for the evening. Subsequent parts show the men getting ready in the locker room, taking a train to Warsaw, shopping (for example for shoes or a watch), going to the cinema, drinking wine, enjoying a big-beat party and dancing. The finale depicts their early-morning return on a crowded train and the stream of people moving through the tunnel leading back to the factory. The typescript is a working draft of the script.
