Materials preserved in the Krzysztof Kieślowski Archive in Sokołowsko have become part of a new film by the Quay Brothers – “Postscriptum. Ruminations on My Craft”.
The thirteen-minute film essay brings together documents and photographs from the Archive, excerpts from Krzysztof Kieślowski’s films, personal recollections and the distinctive animated language of the Quay Brothers.
Rather than offering a conventional biography or attempting to reconstruct the director’s life, “Postscriptum” focuses on what remains after an artist: images, documents, objects and memories. Archival materials become not only traces of the past, but also a starting point for new associations and new narratives.
The film includes, among other elements, material connected with “X-Ray” and “No End”. Sokołowsko and the Archive located here become points of departure for a reflection on memory, passing time and the possibility of rediscovering Kieślowski’s work through the perspective of contemporary artists.
We are delighted that the Archive’s collections can live in this way as well – not only as sources for research and documentation, but also as inspiration for new artistic works.

The film was produced by Izabela Kiszka of IKH Pictures Production and co-produced by the Feature Film Studio in Wrocław. The project also involved the Polish Cultural Institute in London, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Documentary and Feature Film Studios and the In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation.
