Typescript with the treatment for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s reportage “The Photograph” (1968), produced for Polish Television by the Television Film Production Unit. The starting point is a 1944 photograph taken by soldier Józef Rybicki in the courtyard of a house on Stokowska Street, showing two small boys in military caps with submachine guns. The text describes the concept of the film: first, the soldier’s account of the circumstances in which the photograph was taken; then, the search for the boys pictured; and finally, the meeting with them as adult men and the confrontation of their memories with the image of their wartime childhood. The document contains several variants of the same description, with corrections and handwritten additions, which testifies to its working character.
