Before the film received its final title, work on it proceeded under the working titles “The People of Łódź” and “The City of Łódź”. The document is divided into thematic blocks: “Work”. “Celebration”. “Customs”. “Ciuksza”. “Desire to Possess”. “Sunday Amusements”. and “Stone City”. These sections contain the planned observational sequences: interiors of the textile factory, courtyards and gateways with children and young people, celebrations of the Textile Worker’s Day, the defence of the Ciuksza team, sales and bazaars, Sunday amusements in the park, the speedway stadium, as well as overcrowded apartments and old workers’ housing estates. The notes take the form of a sketch of the film’s structure, presented through brief descriptions of situations and details, without dialogues.
