Julie (Juliette Binoche) arrives at her new apartment in Paris, carrying her only luggage: a package containing a blue chandelier taken from a Parisian residence. Julie’s apartment has been completely recreated as a film studio, including every room, the view from the window, and the rooftops of neighboring buildings. The viewer is led to believe that the action takes place in the attic of the building.
