Typescript with production documentation for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film “The Photograph” (1968), produced for Polish Television by the Television Film Production Unit. The document takes the form of a description of the preparations for the film’s production. It includes, among other things, an account of the discovery of Józef Rybicki’s photograph at an exhibition, a characterization of his home archive, a description of the location where the picture was taken (Warsaw, 5 Brzeska Street), reconnaissance of the courtyard and stairwells, and research in the residence registers. Subsequent parts concern the shooting plan using the “surprise” method, sound problems, choice of equipment, and the division of roles within the small crew. The typescript has the character of a working production document.
