ATKK-TEKSTY-I-007

Description

Typescript and handwritten manuscript containing several prose, journalistic and essayistic texts by Krzysztof Kieślowski. The first part is a fragment of a realistic short story set in a prison cell, featuring a character named Antoni – it describes a shared Christmas Eve supper, sung carols, memories of hard labour unloading cement, and conversations about dreams and saving money “for a little house”. The next fragment takes the form of a popular-science sketch on the history of knitting and knitwear – from antiquity to the development of knitting machines in Europe. The final part is a draft letter presenting the position of the Łódź academic community, arguing with Minister J. Spychalski’s public speech and referring to W. Gomułka’s declarations on how students should be treated. The whole document is a multi-page typescript without visible handwritten corrections.
