A typescript with the explication preceding the script for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film “I was a soldier” (1970). Before the film had this title, the work was carried out under the working titles “One world for all” and “The Blind”. The film was made together with Andrzej Titkow, a colleague of the director from the Film School in Łódź. Production took place outside the parent Documentary Film Studio, at the “Czołówka” Film Studio. In the explication, the director emphasizes the unique role of the film’s heroes – soldiers who lost their sight during the war. The uniqueness of the heroes is also juxtaposed with the explanation that they are simply ordinary people who, due to their disabilities, struggled with the question of whether to continue living.
