On 19 September 2026, TVP Kultura broadcast “Co po Kieślowskim?” (“What Comes After Kieślowski?”), a reportage exploring Krzysztof Kieślowski’s work and its continuing relevance today. The film takes us to Sokołowsko, home of the Hommage à Kieślowski Film Festival.
Marking the thirtieth anniversary of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s death, the reportage revisits the question of why his films continue to resonate with audiences. What makes his stories so enduring? Where does the power of his cinema lie, and what can it offer new generations of viewers?
The reportage explores these questions through the Hommage à Kieślowski Film Festival, held in Sokołowsko, a place with a special significance in the director’s life. Kieślowski spent part of his childhood here and later returned to make his documentary “X-Ray”.
Today, Sokołowsko remains an important place for engaging with Kieślowski’s work. It is home to the Krzysztof Kieślowski Archive, established by the In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation to preserve, catalogue, digitise and make the director’s creative legacy accessible to researchers and the public.
“What Comes After Kieślowski?” offers another opportunity to reflect on how the director’s work continues to shape contemporary cinema and culture, inviting new interpretations and conversations.
