Typescript with the editing plan for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film “The Photograph” (1968), produced for Polish Television by the Television Film Production Unit. The document takes the form of a detailed breakdown of successive shots divided into sections. It describes the course of the film from the reproduction of the photograph of the two boys and the account of the photographer, Józef Rybicki, through the crew’s exploration of the courtyard at 5 Brzeska Street, conversations with residents, research in the residence registry office, and finally the discovery of the Janczewski brothers and their contemporary lives. For each shot, the type of framing, the presence of commentary or “100%” sound, music, and dramaturgical function are noted. The final part also records drafts of the opening title cards and closing credits.
