Typescript with reviews and internal opinions on the screenplays of the television cycle “Decalogue” (1988-1989) directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski, made from screenplays by Krzysztof Kieślowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz and produced by the Tor Film Studio for Polish Television. The document contains an extensive internal opinion by Stanisław Kuszewski concerning the entire project (an assessment of the concept of basing the series on the Ten Commandments, religious and ideological risks, the degree to which the Decalogue is treated “seriously”. the selection of extreme situations, the presence of a “catalogue of deviations”), as well as detailed reviews by Andrzej Kołodyński and Henryk Jankowski – both an overall evaluation of the series and separate discussions of the screenplays for the individual episodes: “Decalogue I-X” (analysis of dramaturgy, character construction, connections with the respective Commandments, potential audience reception, doubts regarding the title “Decalogue”, the character of the “Stranger”. the length of episodes, etc.). The typescript takes the form of a multi-page continuous text with clearly marked headings (“Review”, “Review of the screenplay of the television film ‘Decalogue…’”, “General evaluation of the television series ‘Decalogue’”), without scene numbering; it constitutes a working opinion and programming document of Polish Television, used in decision-making regarding the production of the cycle.
