We invite you to a special evening dedicated to the enduring legacy of Krzysztof Kieślowski.
On 13 March at 6:00 PM, as part of the Kinoteka Polish Film Festival, the Polish Cultural Institute in London, in cooperation with the Institut Français, will present an event bringing together cinema, conversation, artistic practice and contemporary technology. The programme asks how Kieślowski’s work can be revisited, interpreted and reimagined today.
One of the central events of the evening will be the world premiere of the AI installation “Call Kieślowski”, produced by Sebastian Strakowicz, which will allow audiences to “speak” with the director in real time. From 16 March, the installation will also be presented for two weeks at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross.
The programme will also include the live creation of a film by media art students, inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s 1979 documentary “Talking Heads”.
Another important part of the evening will be a conversation between Sebastian Strakowicz and Witold Stok, Kieślowski’s long-time collaborator, offering insight into the director’s working methods and visual language.
The audience will also have the opportunity to see one of Kieślowski’s most celebrated films, “The Double Life of Véronique”, as well as the world premiere of a new film by the Quay Brothers, created as a tribute to Krzysztof Kieślowski.
The event has been prepared in cooperation with the In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation and ElevenLabs.
It is a meeting of different generations, media and ways of thinking about cinema – from Kieślowski’s films to contemporary technologies that open up new possibilities for engaging with his work.
